Re: “State budget cuts are more than an inconvenience

I take offense to comments like, "nurses who know even less," and "caregivers (nurses) not educated enough to know when a patient is having an adverse reaction." If you are not a nurse, you have no idea. It is the hardest job in the world, not because it's "rocket science" or you have to be a genius; it's hard because you work 14 hours no sitting, no meal break, hardly a minute to drink a cup of water. Patients, family members, barking orders at you for five patients when you only have enough human capacity both physically and mentally to take care of three. Maybe that nurse just couldn't get to that IV quick enough to stop it because she was dealing with a code blue down the hall. It's called prioritizing, and most people in the hospital have no clue what being a nurse entails. I graduated 8th in my class, made straight A's probably could have gone to med school, but I chose nursing. All of my colleagues are very intelligent, and the smart ones will eventually leave the profession due to burnout, short staffing, and disrespect.

So God help those in need of medical care.
