Re: “Starting Monday you'll need to feed Charleston parking meters until 10 p.m.

What good are 2 hour meters after dark on King St? Will the valet parking guys be doing the meter feeder hustle? How do you go out to dinner in under 2 hours? Or to a performance? In essence, all patrons of downtown restaurants and theaters are now forced to used parking garages.

Re: “10 locals sound off on the first week of $2 an hour downtown parking

you'll need a big sack of quarters in your car, now, or pay for at least half an hour with a card. What I want to know is what good are 2 hour meters after dark on King St? Or will the valet parking guys be doing the meter feed hustle? How do you go out to dinner in under 2 hours? Or to a performance? In essence, all patrons of downtown restaurants and theaters are now forced to used parking garages.

Re: “How can we confront the horror of mass shootings when we refuse to look at them?

Exactly, Charles. Imagine seeing your childs mangled body on the front page. Just because some of you need more gore in your life, does not give you the right to publicize what is very private grief. As a parent, you could never unsee that image. Leave them alone!
Another thing: seeing horrible images regularly tends to desensitize us, so it becomes the norm and we stop feeling the pain that makes us human. So the long term effect is exactly the opposite of what you claim are your intentions.

I saw guys getting killed on TV during the Vietnam War. It did not change the way I felt. I already knew it was horrible. I didn't need to see those images. Neither does anyone else. Especially children! Please don't assault us with photos of dead children. We know it's bad! Really!

Re: “Goulette plays it safe with a salad and duck fat frites formula

Having recently been to Goulette, I agree about the limitations of the menu. Everything we had was good, but not exciting enough to make us regulars. Those imposing wooden banquettes at Lana served very well at limiting the noise...something I definitely noticed at Goulette. And if us pre-geezers are their market, it could be a problem. On another note: be careful about those AARP comments, girl. Some of us are cooler than you know and actually read your reviews, although now we are on notice that we are not your target demographic.
