Rice Harvest 

When: Thu., Sept. 12, Fri., Sept. 13 and Sat., Sept. 14 2013
This intense educational opportunity for visitors. Twice each day (10 a.m.- noon and 1-3 p.m.) costumed interpreters will be at the field cutting raw rice stalks, discussing rice culture with visitors, and demonstrating threshing, pounding and winnowing rice — the same methods employed by enslaved African Americans. Free with paid admission to the gardens.
