In the immortal words of Tommy Lee, “Get naked.” Or at least celebrate the beauty of the human body and raise money for two great causes: Redux Contemporary Art Center and Planned Parenthood. ReNude’s a passion project that hopes to promote preventative healthcare while displaying some of the Lowcountry’s most beautiful nude figurative art pieces. The event kicks off with a lunchtime panel at Queen Street Grocery moderated by Alison Piepmeier, director of the Women and Gender Studies program at CofC and City Paper contributor. This panel focuses on how art can be an opportunity to start conversations about social issues. The signature ReNude event will take place at Redux Saturday evening. Here, you can see works by Jill Hooper, Tom Potocki, Donna Cooper Hurt, and many more. They’ll have paintings, photography, sketches, and glass sculptures on display. Food and drinks will include King of Pops, Smoky Oak Taproom, Holy City Brewing, Total Wine, and specialty cocktails mixed by Cathead Vodka. And it wouldn’t be a cultural affair without a little live music. The Harrows, Danielle Howl, and Lindsey Holler will perform.
