Re: “Let's not let Charleston become Myrtle Beach

Will,

If nothing else you do have an opinion. Thats pretty American of anybody, Congrats on that. Having grown up and lived in the 'Biker culture', I can share my observations from the inside.

99% of the anti-social behaviour is posturing and acting out. The largest single factor underlying the rub between motorcyclists and non is the lack of enforcment of vehicle and noise regulation. There are clear laws regarding what is acceptable in our modern society, yet they are subjectively ignored by local and state law enforement regarding nuisence behaviour. Law Enforcment (or lack of) created this mess. By routinely allowing a segment of society to disregard these laws whithout any punitive measures, the perception is that segment are lawless.

People find this notion of 'Lawlessness' exciting, and they want to be 'BAD' like the others. That is until.... the activity impinges on themselves and their own lives. Then they realize that acting out and being a nuisence isnt 'cool', and they return to being civilzed and social citizens.

I'm one of the lucky ones, I had the ability to learn. So many do not seem to be able to grow into being a member of larger society. For them its FTW, DILLIGAF? So the rest of us will need to rely on laws made for the common good, and convince Law Enforcment to bring about a return to a normal viewpoint of motorcycling. This is where the answer lies and where our efforts need to be focused.

All of Carolina, and for that fact the nation, need only enforce the EPAs rules. This is a no brainer.
