Jangly local indie act Redbirds may still be into the hip-to-be-square approach, but the duo-turned-quartet braves the city stages with elegant confidence more and more. Drummer Kyle Polk and singer/songwriter/guitarist Andrew Brown (pictured) have worked mainly as a rock duo over the last few years. “We like the sounds of our instruments, so we just play them however they sound best, and let the rest take care of itself,” says Polk. Their first recording, Keep it Simple, demonstrated that minimalist spirit. Last spring, Redbirds started adding extra instrumentation wit, guitarist Jeremy Cain and bassist Ryan Brown. “We’ll be revealing a new sound that promises to be full of wide open space and packed full of rhythm and soul,” adds Polk. Rock Hill-based indie quartet Elonzo and strummy Columbia-based indie-pop quintet Magnetic Flowers share the bill. Music starts at 8 p.m. —T. Ballard Lesemann
