City Paper contributor Jeff Allen cleared a parcel of mostly pine forest on the acreage his family purchased in Ravenel in an attempt to use his meticulous, creative energy for crafting vegetables. With help from Jennifer Wassum, who he met in the New and Beginning Farmers program at Clemson, Rebellion Farm was ready to receive its first push of seeds. The two acres bloomed in response to the duo’s care, and local restaurants FIG, EVO, and the Grocery picked up their produce. Rebellion is an incubator farm and hosts growers such as Lowcountry Street Grocery, Holy City Hogs, and a new herd of St. Croix sheep on the property.
