Re: “Role of church needs to be refocused

As a follow up the church would be open everynight I believe if the parishioners were faithful in attending services. I have sat in many church meetings on Wednesday night where the was a very lonely Pastor waiting for the flock

Re: “Role of church needs to be refocused

I've read and processed your letter and tried very hard to find a position of agreement with it. While I am inclined to believe the church is in great need of priority assesment, I cannot help but to place this blame equally on your shoulders as well, bad manners should not beget bad manners. If as you claim you have been raised to act in a certain way then if correct the actions of others should not sway your good intentions. Why did you not initiate greetings? If this many preachers were entering the facility at the same time, there could have been a grave matter to atttend to that had thier focus distracted for the moment, they could have been going in to hold a board meeting or a host of other factors. The story of black ministers not present in the community is a long stretch particularly for the African Methodist Preachers who for the most part live in thier respective communities in a parsonage supplied by the church body. I have not met a preacher not passionately interested in education since they all know the importance of the learning moment. Seminary is a very grueling institution demanding proper prepatory considerations. I would suggest to you in the future that instead of counting the number of times someone walk past you without speaking you practice true southern hospitality and outstretch your own hand first. We all have accountability issues when it comes to our duties as brothers and sisters, we have to discern in each case how do we make the effort to take the first step without depending on someone else to act first.
