PREVIEW ‌ Mary Kay has a Posse

The Girls Are Back in Town: What, you didn't know Mary Kay Has A Posse?

Although women have always been known as the fairer sex, it's not often that you'll hear anyone, male or female, refer to them as the funnier sex.

However, after watching the four women of Mary Kay Has A Posse take on and demolish all manner of stereotypes with their rapier wits, you just might find yourself rethinking how much "sense" is really in that kind of "common sense."

The four best friends in the Posse — Jessica Chase, Jennifer Dyer-Buddin, Camille Lowman, and Brandy Sullivan — initially ganged up in 2004, when The Have Nots! (Sullivan's day job) were still performing at the American Theater and all four of the Posse members were living in Charleston.

Today they're spread out across the country, with Sullivan firmly anchored here, Chase in Philadelphia, Lowman in Chicago, and Dyer-Buddin in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area.

"It's not a huge reunion thing because we talk all the time," Chase says. "It'll just be nice to physically be there and be able to get drunk and make fun of people together, y'know, rather than on the phone."

The Posse last performed in December of last year, delivering their trademark whirlwind hour of improv, with long-form sketches sandwiched between their hilarious chat-show-style send-up of The View, "Posse Talk."

Last time I had the good fortune to see the Posse, I checked my watch once — when the show was over, because I couldn't believe an hour had really gone by. That's just how strong their rapport is, and how furiously they deliver the funny.

"What it comes down to is we're four chicks who happen to be really good friends," Chase says. "When we're together, we're goofy and making each other laugh and it's nonstop ... The only difference between us hanging out together and us doing a Mary Kay show is that there is an audience paying to watch us."
