We’ve got to give McCrady’s props for picking this year’s most creative New Year’s party theme, one entirely appropriate for a building where George Washington once dined. They’re hosting a Presidential Ball, complete with cocktails, snacks, a DJ, dancing, party favors, and a champagne toast at midnight. They’re asking for guests to dress as their favorite political figures (former and current presidents, first ladies, and mistresses), and we say go obscure. Anyone can channel Jackie Kennedy or Hillary Clinton; you should be Dolly Madison. Forget Marilyn Monroe or Monica Lewinsky: Go as FDR’s mistress, Lucy Page Mercer Rutherfurd. And Lincoln’s beard and Teddy Roosevelt’s mustache are overdone — William Henry Harrison, the president who died within a month of taking office, is sure to be a hit. Best costume gets a $250 gift certificate. The restaurant is also serving dinner, from both their regular menu and an extended tasting menu, from 5-10 p.m. Diners can attend the party for $65. —Susan Cohen
