Re: “Local skatepark gets demolished

http://www.thestate.com/breaking/story/115…

It is heartbreaking to see all this hard work destroyed. Skaters statewide mourn the loss of this beautiful place they thought they could call home. I find it interesting that in Charleston (a city thought to be modern, progressive and a haven for artistic self-expression) the act of the destruction of a free-standing interactive artwork complete with daily performers, coincides nearly simultaneously with the advancement of the skate park opening date in Columbia (a city with a horrible reputation for alienating youthful artistic energy). This act truly demonstrates Columbia's willingness to embrace skateboarding as a way to encourage youth physical fitness, and artistic self-expression.

Any act on the part of the City of Charleston to expedite construction of skateboarding opportunities would be seen as an act of good faith, cooperation and acceptance by the skateboarders of South Carolina.

Re: “FEATURE ‌ In Search of Ramps and Rails

So far POUR IT NOW has raised over $2000 on board sales alone. We are applying for grants to cover the bulk of the costs, but we are also accepting donations online. Visit www.pouritnow.com for more info or to make a contribution. Ask your local skateshop to carry POUR IT NOW boards and shirts.
