Re: “THE GOOD FIGHT ‌ Too Many People on the Shore

It is truly sad the way we treat the public domain. If we would treat it like most of us take care of our private domain we would have clean beaches, rivers, and highways. Having lived in the Lowcountry for over 50 years it pains me to see all the small govermental entities fighting against each other never having the big picture in mind. We need to have region wide planning to stop the suburban sprawl. It mskes my blood boil when there is a vacant shopping center and diagonaly across the street developers are building a new shopping center. An example of this is in Summervile at the corner of US 78 and BGM Prky. Now granted the land where the new shopping center is going in was an old brick works, but we are doing things simmilar to this all over the Tri county area. I can remember as a child in the late 50's early 60's when we would go to Charlotte, NC even then you could see they had a plan about how they wanted their city to grow. Now Charleston from it early roots has always grown like topsy look at Savannah, but we do not have to continue to make the same mistakes let's learn from them and plan where we are going. Rather than ten years from now say I wish it was like it was in 2006.
