Poll managers needed to fulfill Democratic destiny

400 sought for Nov. 2 election

The best way to avoid a line on Election Day may just be to help out at the voting booth. Charleston County is looking for 400 poll managers this year to pitch in on Nov. 2 and keep everything running smoothly.

Marilyn Bowers, executive director of the county's Board of Elections and Voter Registration, pitches it as an opportunity to "become involved in the democratic process." Which is another way of saying it's a good excuse for getting out of your normal job or a day of classes.

Election Day duties include checking in voters, directing them to the machines, and following state and federal election laws. For more info, visit charlestoncounty.org. — Greg Hambrick
