Charleston’s horticultural elite are getting the gardening season started right with Plantasia, the Charleston Horticultural Society’s annual plant sale. Horticulture experts will be on hand all weekend to help you pick out the perfect plants for your home or garden, while free workshops on everything from basic gardening to raising chickens in the city will help you in your quest to become a gardening Jedi. Other workshop topics include selling your garden produce through GrowFood Carolina, outdoor lighting, and vertical gardening, as well as a fun gardening workshop for children. “This is the premier Lowcountry plant sale,” said Kyle Barnette, executive director of the Charleston Horticultural Society. “We have a huge supply of unusual and hard-to-find plants, and vendors with all kinds of accessories.” You can be one of the first people to experience Plantasia by attending the preview party, Fête, which will have refreshments, drinks, and live music. The preview event is Thurs. April 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and costs $50.
