It has King George's seal of approval. The Charleston Library Society is one of Charleston's oldest institutions. In fact, it was chartered by King George III himself. Well-read intelligentsia have flocked to it to share their love of literature since 1748.

They have your cup of tea. Reading a good book is a pleasure, especially one written by an author whose voice grabs you from page one. This celebration of literature brings with it a variety of literary voices. From author and editor Curtis Washington presenting an overview of Charleston's literary history to singer-songwriter-author Marshall Chapman singing some sweet sounds, there is sure to be something for every Southern book lover.

Your Kindle won't write itself. The many routes in which the written word finds its way to us may be changing day by day, but one thing remains true: There is always a need for people with stories to tell. Stories help us understand ourselves and one another. That's not about to change. So a festival-within-a-festival celebrating literature? Yeah, we're there.
