Re: “USC Upstate closes gender studies center that booked lesbian play

@StephenC: Think you need to reread my comments. We're on the same side.

@freefirezone: What determines non-moral behavior in our government in regards to sexuality? Can't say Christianity as we are not a theocracy nor are we governed by Christian doctrine. So what's your basis?

Re: “USC Upstate closes gender studies center that booked lesbian play

@freefirezone: Please give the legal reasons why homosexuals should not be allowed to marry. Also explain how them marrying infringes on your rights. Please keep religious arguments out of this as we are talking about government-defined marriage. Private, church-defined marriage is completely up to the decision of that church.

I'm assuming you are a "small government conservative" who wouldn't mind government being taken entirely out of marriage and letting individual churches make up their own mind on this matter.

Re: “USC Upstate closes gender studies center that booked lesbian play

@freefirezone: I'm not arguing that the rights of the racists were violated. That's the ridiculous argument you are presenting: a homophobe's (and that's the right word as clearly you harbor a fear) rights are somehow violated because society and our government forces equality for all Americans on them.

And yes, that was the exact same argument racists in the 1960s gave against the Civil Rights Movement. If you're going to be intolerant and closed-minded, society has every right to put you firmly in your place.

Re: “USC Upstate closes gender studies center that booked lesbian play

@freefirezone: Were blacks and their "sympathizers" as you put it trying to teach white racists a lesson decades ago?

And don't bother with "Those issues aren't comparable." They are because the racists presented the same arguments you are presenting: if society isn't tolerant of their beliefs of bigotry and discrimination, then somehow their rights have been violated.

Of course, if you can provide well-documented evidence that a gay person has forced you to do something that violated your rights, then I might be apt to entertain your arguments a bit more.

@Happy: Don't you know? If you're not tolerant of someone's intolerance and hatred, then it's you who are the intolerant one!
