Re: “Closed for Business

We stopped in Saturday night for dinner and a few drinks. I agree the drinks were pricey, even for the high quality choices. I had the pork slap and it was very good as was the interesting pickle slaw that I had with it. The duck pot pie was good, but tasted more of mushroom than duck. It was a pleasant experience overall, but not what I would call outstanding.

Re: “A round-up of the summer's best food memoirs

Another great, not to miss foodie read is Blood, Bones & Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton. An amazingly rich memoir.

Re: “Dolce Bakery launches pie-of-the-week club

Am I just cheap or does $23 plus per pie seem pretty steep?

Re: “Where to root for your fave NFL and college football teams

I am a devout New Orleans Saints fan--from back in the days when we were truly the Aint's. I'd love to know if there were more of us here and if so, where do you gather?

Re: “To be a mother or not

I will tell you what I tell all my friends, straight or gay. Have children only if you really feel your life would be totally incomplete without them. It's wonderful and terrifying, the best thing in your life and sometimes the worst, thrilling and exhausting and always all-encompassing. I love my children with all my heart and feel blessed to have them, and it ceratinly changed my whole life, but I respect others decisions not to have them.

Re: “Will the Carolina Chocolate Drops make or break the Finale?

The Chocolate Drops were amazing. Yes, there was crowd at the front, but that should be expected for a lawn concert. They are not the symphony and you should not expect the same experience. You could have picked up your chairs and moved 50 feet back and you would have been able to see fine. I know cause I was there. The music was amazing.
