Re: “The hypocrisy of the American pro-life movement

It seems as though every time I protest in front of an abortion mill, I experience someone with the mentality of Mr. Hunter.

Some time ago I was protesting when a woman approached me and asked the question, "What are you doing about the war in Iraq," to which I responded, "Absolutely nothing - what are you doing?" Her mouth dropped open and she looked startled and turned and walked away. To equate any war with the protest of abortion is nothing more than a lame attempt to put the protestor on the defensive and deflect the debate from the killing of innocent unborn children, of which there is no defense, to a separate issue that is more defendable. That dog won’t hunt.

I cannot solve, or even attempt to actively solve, all the evils in this world. What I can do is something, which is more than ninety nine percent of people. In this case I am protesting abortion - not a war some place. If I want to protest the war in Iraq, I will join in a separate protest concerning that issue.

What are you doing about any of these issues, Mr. Hunter, except criticizing those who are doing more than lip service to the problem?
