What’s not to love about a neighborhood corner shop slinging up dogs and ice cream? Especially when the hot dogs in question are grass-fed beef, piled with inventive topping combos like creamy cucumber-lemon Greek yogurt, goat cheese, crunchy fennel, paper-thin radishes, and crispy chickpeas (a.k.a. “Freaks & Greeks, to name but one). Under the watchful eye and good taste of Parlor Deluxe chef Emily Hahn, ice cream is custom-made just down the coast, loaded with rich buttercream and packing unexpected flavors like honey lemon olive oil or burnt orange caramel. Even vegetarians and vegans have options here: both the “Not-Dog,” a roasted carrot, and the coconut milk-flavored horchata ice cream are excellent. Add to that seasonal local sodas, loaded tots and waffles, and you have a gem of a parlor that is deluxe indeed, ready to satisfy your cravings for lunch, dinner, or late night munchies. The best part? Parlor just added booze to the menu. —Allston McCrady Dish, Summer 2016
