Re: “Will Charleston complete its vision of a bike-friendly peninsula?

This whole revamped attitude toward cyclists is fantastic, and I am happy to see the peninsula moving in an earth-friendlier direction, but there is one glaring mistake in this article- I rode my bicycle to work that day in May that the city shut down King St to cars, supposedly opening it for cyclists and pedestrians, and when i tried to leave work that afternoon I was told (very, rudely I might add) by several cops that I was not allowed to ride my bicycle up the street and that this was a pedestrian-only zone after flyers had stated clearly for months that it was open to both cyclists and pedestrians. I usually walk to work because I live and work on King St and had been looking forward to this day that I would actually be able to use my bicycle without having to go around to Coming to get back up the peninsula (since riding on a one-way street the wrong way is illegal! something many people seem to conveniently forget). Those in charge need to get their details straight before hosting another day like this, as I know many other bike commuters who were inconvenienced that day due to improper briefing of policemen.
