Re: “Ohioans have invaded the Lowcountry... and some folks wish they would leave

Tradd Bastian, bless your heart. A true Charlestonian does not act this way. I have never run into a visiting Buckeye only NY'er's & NJ'ians....they work in shops on King St. and have an accent. I do have a history lesson for you: Ohio was the wilderness inhabited by many Indian tribes. People fled England, Scotland, and so forth many reasons. My great gggg grandfather was Lord Proprietor Anthony Ashley Cooper, 1st Earl of Shaftesbury and he brought the 1st Quakers to Charleston. People left the Holy City due to disliking the sale of people on
Chalmers St. Then many war's took place and those who fought were given Land Grants by Thomas Jefferson to go to this new land and settle it. Those people from Ohio you speak of visit here because of their ancestry and/or all the publicity that Charleston does to promote our lovely charming city. Let us get them to stop. Oh and perhaps at the airport we can turn them away? Road signs up in Myrtle Beach might help as well. You know it is funny but I see a lot of tee shirt clad folks tasting a free piece of our beloved pralines from North Market St. but they were from IL, IN, MO, TX, AL and Iowa. They looked like those Ohioan's you described. Wouldn't it be nice to be nice to everyone. I think you need to move away... Uh tell'um say da' dog fuh bite'um
