Re: “State budget cuts are more than an inconvenience

You apparently are viewing the healthcare system from the view of a large city with adequate numbers of "qualified" physicians. Move out into the rural settings of the low country and you will observe an even deadlier result. We are faced with the loss of so many of the "best" doctors leaving the area and traveling to the cities to earn more money. That leaves us with many areas of specialists no longer available. I traveled 60 miles to a big city hospital for surgery and even there had only nurses who had no training in spine care to help me survive the night after spine surgery. We can't find the doctors in our rural setting and travel to find qualified surgeons and now I'm discovering even the most recognized and well known don't know what they are doing and leave you in the care of nurses who know even less.
