Very interesting question. I've never been convinced that fried chicken was African originated as it was also prevalent in England and when I was in cooking school in the late 60's there they were ignorant of American fried chicken by and large. They were deep frying fish and chips, but chicken was more pan-fried, which is the way I think of pre-Kentucky fried chicken here as well.
