Music Unlimited rocks the IOP

The local 'school of rock' presents two days of music at the Windjammer

Music Unlimited Rock Nation — a local organization that regularly offers private instruction by Charleston musicians and instructors (guitars, drums, keys, vocals, etc.) — hosts a two-day stint titled One Nation Under Rock. The student/teacher concerts are set for Fri. Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. and Sat. Jan. 30 at noon at the Windjammer.

It's the third-annual get-together for MU Rock Nation, which was founded in 2006 as "the Lowcountry's first school of rock." Director Chris Holly (a veteran songwriter and bandleader) and the staff host the MU Rocks Summer Camp for teenage students who want to learn more about playing in bands, writing songs, stage performance, and other aspects of the biz.

Noted teachers include Eddie Bush, Aaron Levy, Elise Testone, and John Madden. "The event will feature performers from ages six to 60, playing everything from John Denver to Metallica, accompanied by their amazing MU instructors," says Holly. The gigs are all-ages and free of charge (donations to MU Rock Nation are encouraged).
