Mt. Pleasant Christmas Light Parade

When: Sun., Dec. 13, 5:30 p.m. 2015
Price: Free to attend

'Tis the season

What better way to kick off the holiday season than with a traditional tree-lighting ceremony, fireworks, and a bright parade of Christmas lights? OK, so those have been happening all over town, but like we always say, the more the merrier. After attending a tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks display at Moultrie Middle School, grab a spot on the sidewalk of Coleman Boulevard. to watch more than 100 festive floats travel across town. The parade itself begins at the intersection of Coleman and Pelzer Drive and will cross over Shem Creek, and while bleacher seating will be set up at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion but bringing your own seating or tailgating is encouraged. Concessions will be for sale at the Pavilion and restaurants along Coleman will be open to hungry spectators during and following the parade. “Last year Sticky Fingers had a pig roasting a man on a spit and Cox Tree Service had a tree doctor reviving a Christmas tree, so I can’t wait to see what creative ideas they’ve come up with for this year,” says Mt. Pleasant special events planner Nicole Harvey. Be sure to pick your favorite float, snap a photo of it, and post it to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the hashtag “#VoteTheFloatMP” if you think it should win the People’s Choice Award — check the parade’s Facebook page or radio station Y102 FM to see if your choice won.
