Elder Carlie Towne productions presents Gullah/Geechee Knows Emanuel: A Gullah/Geechee Story, a work that takes audiences on a trip through the history of the Gullah/Geechee past of Emanuel in Charleston. From enslavement to current strifes like the Emanuel Nine, this performance aims to show how, through the midst of so much hardships and turmoil, the Gullah/Geechee community of Charleston has overcome these obstacles. In a solemn remembrance of Emanuel, this performance shows how the Gullah/Geechee community holds each other up as well as educating each other and their children as to how they can continue to rise and overcome with the power of love.
