MLB playoff rosters boast 11 former Charlestonians

Post season feels like home

When sports fans hear autumn, they think football. Charlestonians have 11 reasons not to. A dozen players on the Major League Baseball playoff rosters have called Charleston home during their careers.

Scott Eyre, pitcher for the league champion Philadelphia Phillies, played for the Charleston Rainbows back in '93. Minnesota Twins outfielder Delmon Young had the best season any player has ever had in Charleston professional baseball history. Holly Hill native Brett Gardner played outfield for the College of Charleston and has the distinction of scoring the last run in old Yankees Stadium. Other notable players include Twins pitcher Carl Pavano, Red Sock Rocco Baldelli, and Greenville native Jason Hammel who pitches for the Colorado Rockies.

Show some love for those that have graced us with their presence.
