Re: “Sheriff's deputy named in fatal West Ashley apartment shooting

How many people remember Sergeant Hubert Lloyd and Deputy William Nalley? How many people even know who they were or how they became deceased? If you go to the Sheriff's Office's run down shack on Pinehaven, you may see a plaque in remembrance of both.. I imagine eventually you will see a plaque with Deputy Joseph Matuskovic's (Field Training Instructor) name and badge on one as well. My point is this, people FORGET these brave officers who have given their lives to protect others because everyday life gets the best of mostly everyone. Charleston really does need a park or memorial area for officers who have paid the ultimate price for our protection. Maybe a memorial next to the Charleston's 9 firefighter memorial instead of the impound lot/junk yard a local towing company plans to put next to it.... Just saying Charleston, Chief Lucas, and Sheriff Cannon!
By all means, please don't thinks I feel all officers are good because they're not. But in my experiences, most are and do the job because they believe there is good in people. Good, Bad, opinions set aside, an officer never deserves to loose their life protecting people around them. If by chance they do, that individual deserves to be recognized in a memorable way that will last through our lifetime!
