DD is awesome, and by far my favorite lunch spot on JI. The food is fresh, local and delicious. The staff are always incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home.

Yes, sometimes it does take a little bit to get your's not a chain or fast food joint. Sit down, grab a magazine (or a copy of the always-stocked CCP!) and relax...that's the point.

The biggest problem i've ever had there is trying to decide between The Pescado Loco and Dragon wraps. Great vegetarian options, and everything is always fresh. If they're out of something (that's a good thing...) try something new! You won't be disappointed.

Re: “As Charleston's tent cities grow, other communities find tangible solutions

There's a fantastic FB group that was just set up to help the folks living in the tent cities around Charleston.… There's information on where to bring donations.

Most of the people living down there are honest, hard-working people (who have jobs) and simply can't keep up with the expense of living in Charleston.

Affordable housing is becoming a major problem in this region, and more and more people are priced out of the housing market (buying OR renting)--and some will have no choice, no place to go. No one sets out to be homeless, and it could happen to any of us, at any time. Whatever we can do to help these people out, we need to do.
