Self-taught artist May Brailsford was a beloved figure in McClellanville, planting trees for future generations and presenting newlywed couples with paintings of shrimp boats and magnolias. When Brailsford died in 1971, she left behind a captivating account of her childhood in the village. Her granddaughter, artist Mary Ingalls Cote, has brought this story to life with twenty-five charming illustrations.
