Mardi Gras Party

When: Tue., Feb. 16, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. 2010

You can’t flash the wait staff, but The Glass Onion will be giving out beads on Tuesday for their Mardi Gras celebration.

“We won’t have the parades and marching bands either,” says co-owner Charles Vincent, “but the idea is to celebrate that letting loose on a Tuesday in February is alright to do.”

The restaurant will have two kegs of Coast IPA selling at $10/pitcher and $3/pint, the traditional Mardi Gras King Cake, and their usual New Orleans style cuisine in honor of the annual festival. Those who head over to the Glass Onion for Tuesday’s festivities are encouraged to dress up and should expect to see co-owner Sarah O’Kelley in full Mardi Gras regalia.

“Mardi Gras is just another holiday when people dress up,” says Vincent. “It’s less Gothic than Halloween, so you won’t find any devils. Think anything from Smokey the Bear to painting yourself all gold.” Vincent would know, he’s been to Mardi Gras 25 times, and says, “It’s going to be a party.”
