Mardi Gras at the Royal American

When: Fri., Feb. 28 2014
Phone: (843) 817-6925
Price: $5
“We hope our guests understand, even when it’s not Mardi Gras season, that the city of New Orleans and many of it’s legendary bars played a major role in the concept, decor, and music of the Royal American,” says owner John Kenney. “From our traditional New Orleans muffaletta sandwich to our rum punch to our dedicated support of original local music, we have tried to pay our respects to one of our favorite towns in each aspect of what we do.” At the Fais do-do party last year, they even had Grammy-winning zydeco musician Terrance Simien perform, while chef John Besh served his eats. Stop by this year’s party and hear the Royal American Mardi Gras Band — which Kenney describes as a big-ass brass band — perform. They’ll also provide beads, masks, and noise makers to get you in the Mardi Gras mood while you sip on that dangerous rum punch. Let the good times roll, Charleston.
