I love the fact that mothers are sharing their milk like this, for free, and I have participated in breastmilk sharing via Eats On Feets. I agree with Emma that selling it would add an element to milk sharing that would worry me.
To the above poster: You are so right! I also read that the lactoferrin is mostly destroyed by the milk bank process and I think that is one of the most valuable elements in breastmilk.
I applaud the information on the Eats On Feets website and in the end Mothers need to their own research. It is not made easy though unfortunately. This article is one example how easy it is to not present all the facts. I support milk banks as well, and it would be wonderful if both informal milk sharing and milk banks could see the benefits of the existence of both and trust that one does not compete or harm the other!
