Re: “School district forces out superintendent who fired coach who condoned racist ritual

@nofaith: Come on now you know those comparisons don't even connect with what is being talked about. You know if you invite someone to your home that's of other ethnic descent and you have food for them that fits their culture you know good and well that's not racism. It is not hyper sensitivity it's four hundred years of pent up frustration from Slavery, Jim Crow, Lynchings and having our Civil Rights violated for years. To me personally if any action smells of racism a white person should leave that alone immediately. Learn our history we have learned American and European history from school. One month of African American history is nowhere near enough. No not every action or a white person is racist, but some actions can definitely can be perceived as having racist overtones.

Re: “School district forces out superintendent who fired coach who condoned racist ritual

@John Cecil: That student was the only black player on the team. I believe and it's my opinion that he wanted to be accepted and blend with the other members of the team. I have no problem with that if it is done honestly. But if it is not then it's a different story. A constructive dialogue is great with people who are open-minded and not afraid to talk about racism instead of sweeping it under the rug. You have to understand it's not racial intimidation and it's not overreaction. We as African Americans have been disrespected so much for so long that we are no longer going to stand by and be silent no matter what the situation is. We are not 3/5 of a Human Being, we are whole Human Beings.

Re: “School district forces out superintendent who fired coach who condoned racist ritual

@nofaith the lineage of White Kids connected to slave ownership and southern heritage is pretty slim really. If I am a fifth generation descendant of slaves. If I myself and many other African Americans in this area have a connection to slavery, then a lot of White Americans in this area also have a connection to slavery. Nofaith every time a Black Man says something about slavery he is ramping up rhetoric and tarnishing innocent people please. If I do agree with you about this teams actions not meant to be offensive the Coach should still be held accountable. If I have a party at my home and serve drinks in a celebration and one of the celebrants drinks and drives and hurts someone I will be held responsible. I am extracting the duty of responsibility out of the AMHS situation and my example. Even though there was no intent on my part to have any individual drink and drive in my example I am still accountable and responsible.

Re: “School district forces out superintendent who fired coach who condoned racist ritual

@John Cecil: Black People on a regular basis don't complain about the wrongs they are witnessing or having done to them especially in this Area. Many of us not all of us go along with the flow because they are conditioned (Slave Mentality). Only now we are beginning to speak up as a whole on the issues of racism. I have my questions about the Black Football Player who said there were no racist intentions, probably because he was scared to speak the truth about how he felt and was pressured not to say anything negative against the school or the team. Could it be he did not want to get ostracized by the football team and student body. I'm not sold on what that Black football player said. We see things differently because you live in your bubble and I live in mines. If we were switched living in each others shoes I'm sure we would see things differently. If the football team wanted to hoot then do a Spartan or Viking chant. Plant a Spear in the ground indicating another victory, or take an Ax and chop wood to indicate working hard for a victory. But busting watermelons and making monkey sounds that's not manly that's soft and weak and it looks racist. Every time a Black Person speaks up White People make accusations of using the Race Card or it's Race Baiting. No @John Cecil its not about that it's about having a conversation. Understand our side and how we feel about things. And to let all know I am not a Racist, I am a Awarenist meaning that I am aware that racism exists.

@Native Ink if you read my entry earlier in the conversation this is what I said..."Someone finally told the truth about this stuck in the Civil War racist metropolitan area and it's surrounding communities." Oh by the way Native Ink I'm from that side of the bridge (Not Mount Pleasant) and I'm well aware of the attitude of entitlement and the I'm better than you attitude.
