Re: “#OccupyWallStreet and the sad state of activism

You do realize that ordering a latte and talking with people is not uncharacteristic of revolutionaries? I don't think this movement is represented alone by physical protest - it is by a call to a changed way of thinking and to an end of apathy. For years the youth has been told they were apathetic, and as soon as they stand up (whether via the internet or in a plaza in any of the cities holding protests), they are told their concerns are illegitimate, that they are whining.

Someone like Foucault would say that because power is imminent and pervasive, resisting that power or subverting it is required most importantly at the local, individual level. Thinking has to change with individuals who also unite together. This paired with the protests / demonstrations allow for real, lasting change to come about.

(Also, kudos to Harry for his comment, "we'll speak for you anyway." That's the attitude we desperately need.)

Re: “Spoleto 2010 poster unveiled

"Figurative" here means they're stretching it. I think the title emphasizing Rhode Island is part of the problem, as well. What? Who's coming from Rhode Island?

Also, how strange is it that South Carolina is the state portrayed with less depth and color than the other state? I know technically why that happened in the excavation of the atlas, but the subliminal message is there.
