Lulie Wallace: Painting and Patterns

When: Thu., March 14, 5-10 p.m. 2013
Price: Free
Even though spring flowers haven’t quite opened their petals yet, the ones in local artist Lulie Wallace’s paintings and textiles are in full bloom, and they’re ready to be seen. Paintings and Patterns will feature 50 of Wallace’s original paintings and her new Spring/Summer 2013 textile collection. Not only will the show be a guaranteed shot of springtime cheer, it’s also supporting a good cause — Wallace will raffle a painting to benefit the Shaw Community Center, which provides after-school programs for neighborhood kids. “I’m excited to see friends, collectors, artists and people from the community come out to see the paintings in such a fun space,” Wallace says. A graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in studio art, Wallace now works as a professional artist in her studio space at Redux. Recently, big-name retail outfits like Urban Outfitters, One Kings Lane, Anthropologie, and others have bought her textiles, and her art is often featured on popular blogs and websites. “Over the past couple of months I have felt overwhelmingly thankful for the recognition my work has received,” says Wallace. “It makes it that much more fun and motivating to walk into my studio everyday.”
