Re: “The slow death of the North Charleston Police Department’s federal review

This is political reteric. What is needed is a crackdown of the ever increading crime in North Charleston, tougher sentenses, and a constant presence on the streets of Law Enforcement. This can only be acvomplishrd by the State's National Guard to patrol the streets 24/7, until the danger to private citizens is reduced.

Re: “Two-way conversion of Spring and Cannon streets begins Oct. 2

These streets are too narrow for 2 way traffic, unless they eliminate parking altogether. Spring Street is a bus route, which will slow traffic to a crawl.Yhis is a really stupid idea!

Re: “The conversation we should all be having about gun violence and firearm safety

I liked the article, and realize there are two sides to every story! When the open carry regulations were passed a few I fought against them. To have a law that states that you can carry a gun into a bar, but you can't drink, is the dumbest thing I ever heard. I was not wrong. Shootings occur almost every weekend in parking lots outside bars in the Charleston area. The recent shootings or guns discovered in the hands of school children is another serious accident waiting to happen. The problem lies with parents who do nothing to keep guns in a locked, secure place. There are many yhings that our Legislature can do to reduce crime in this state, but depend on the NRA to keep their offices in Columbia. Pretty sad.

Re: “10 Charleston restaurant trends that need to end with 2016

First of all I have never have been, or will go to Starbucks! Secondly, if it weren't for tourism, we would only have about 25% of the restaurants we have. The local Charlestonians are fickle. Thry support a new restsurant for 6 months, then run the other way. It is a cut throat business, and the turnover is high. I agree that empolyee salaries are rediculously low, and need to change. I fail to criticise an industry that has to depend on the whs of tourists in order to survive. It takes real courage!

Re: “With a leadership change, CARTA aims to cut costs and go regional

I know that the James Island route is not a moneymaker, but is needed by people with jobs in Charleston. If they extrnded the route to Folly Beach, which is only a 3 mile extention I believe they considerably inccrease their revenue. I know it was tried before for a short period of time, but discontinued because the drivers objected. Since when do they dictate what is good for both Carta and it's riders?
