My husband and I ate at The Glass Onion just a few hours ago... and words cannot describe the experience we had, but I'll try. The moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed!!! The service was fantastic. Now as for the food, most of the time I can look at my husband and tell if he's enjoying the meal or not. He closed his eyes. The second he tasted his Shrimp and Andouille sausages with grits, he looked as if he'd found his mistress! We've lived in Charleston for almost two years and as much as we eat out, I can honestly say that this was the best experience!! I had the Shrimp cakes with red rice(a substitute for grits because I don't eat grits) and butter bean salad. It was almost sinful. Then I debated on the bread pudding or the butterscotch pudding. I went for the butterscotch pudding. I was in heaven! Knowing that the food is fresh, local, I expected to pay, but the tab was well worth it. We will definately return. FYI: The Glass Onion is not really for young kids who "hate to try new things", but if you have teenagers who are willing to get away from burgers, chicken tenders and fries, then TGO is a great start!!
