Re: “Denmark Vesey Was a Terrorist

Hell yeah erect a staute in his honor and those who supported the uprising! Americans from day 1, had no right to exploit Indian peoples and African peoples. Greed, power and money seems to be at the heart of all govts practicing imperialism, here and abroad. The powerful always dominate the weak. When the weak fights back, then we have a problem. Descendants of the powerful will never feel the brunt impact of such nature, thus 'reporting' inaccurate notions, beliefs and one-sided facts. America has ALWAYS been terroristic. Thats nothing to be proud of. Imagine having to forget who you are, forced to see and do unspeakable acts and then told to accept it. If Africans were to invade Europe and perpertrate the same crimes, I'd hardly see the same rhetoric about this discussion. Furthermore, Charleston, still one of the most racist cities in SC, needs more racial reform. There isnt any statue or monument or area of town dedicated to African-Americans, African slaves or Native Indians, all of whom I'm comprised of. Charleston should be ashamed of this atrocity. We are the ugly cousin nobody wants to show their friends(tourists) to. With a career mayor of nearly 40 years, change is not gonna come. Monies generated by our ancestors has never been appropriated to the children in Charleston. Our history is nothing but negative. So commending a man or group of poor people, who acted upon saving their lives is something to be proud of. Not only for black people here but for ALL Charlestonians and Americans alike.
