LETTERS to the editor

The Upper King Design District is hardly a ghost town as Erica Jackson would have you believe. (News Blips, "Upper King Ghost Town" by Erica Jackson, Jan. 14)

Yes, there are a few stores that are closing for a variety of reasons, but there are newer and fresher businesses ready to begin operations in the next few months.

And no where else but in the Upper King Design District will you find the "Magical Mystery Stroll," Jan. 23, celebrating the opening of the Charleston Ballet's Magical Mystery Tour or the Tango Stroll to highlight the opening of the Charleston Symphony's Pops.

We all understand what a jewel Upper King Street is and how the peninsula expansion will move north with the Mid-Town development creating the northern anchor for economic development.

Upper King Street is very much alive, thank you.

Dog Eat Dog

It always shows the quality of the reviewer when he openly gives notes to a trained comedian. And that quality is shitsville. (Calender Girl, "Comedy Fest Scene: The Buffoons" by Chris Haire, Jan. 21)

Also, this show was balls out hilarious top to bottom, and I have been singing "Kiss from a Rose" in my head the whole time.

While I was in Charleston I saw this reviewer's one man show: a homeless guy sucking off a German shepherd. It was way better than his reviews.

Here's a note to Chris Haire: stick to sucking off German shepherds, your reviews are garbage.
