LETTERS to the editor

GodblessSC's recent letter complained that the NAACP has never said, "Thank you," to the white people of this country for fighting for them. ("Just Chillin'," Aug. 8) It is too late to thank those who fought the Civil War. They are gone.

In a way, black America did thank those people; they raised the money to build Grant's tomb, which still stands on the island of Manhattan.

I don't recall the Sons of the Confederate Veterans ever thanking black folks for fighting for them in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, or Iraq.
