Lefty Williams

When: Fri., May 6 2011
Price: $5
Atlanta-based blues-rock singer/guitarist Jason “Lefty” Williams and his groovy band are no strangers to Charleston. Over the last five years, Lefty has been turning heads with his percussive, expressive guitar style and soulful voice — not to mention the fact that he’s rockin’ and groovin’ despite an impairment. Williams was born without a right hand, but that didn’t stop him from playing guitar. As a kid, he fashioned a customized pick for his right arm and taught himself the chords and licks he needed to get rolling. After graduating with honors from the Atlanta Institute of Music, he formed his own professional combo and began recording original Southern-fried, blues-based material. He headlines on Sullivan’s in support of a new album titled Snake Oil, which was produced and engineered by John Keane (R.E.M., Widespread Panic).
