Re: “Understanding the 'T' in LGBT

Let me start by saying that I love your article. However, as a member of the "T" community you write about, I have to make a correction. You stated that "cross-dressers, drag queens, and drag kings are not transgender...". That is not entirely accurate. A few examples: A transsexual woman (male to female) may do drag shows to earn money for her transition. A transsexual man (female to male) may do drag shows to earn money for his transition.
"Transgender" is a general term applied to a variety of individuals, behaviors, and groups involving tendencies to deviate from the normative gender roles. Therefore, "cross dressers" are transgender simply because they deviate from their normal gender expectations.
When you think of the transgender community you need to first accept that "transgender" is like a an article title followed by several other subtitles, sections, and subsections.
I am a transsexual woman. I have started my transition and do plan on having Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS). I do not have any issues with being a member of the Transgender Community; drag queens, drag kings, and cross-dressers included, and I hope that when you read this you will understand more about what the "T" really means, and I hope you will learn that everything in life is part of a continuum: gender, physical sex, height, weight, intelligence, sexual orientation, hip to waist ratio, etc. EVERYTHING The laws of probability allow only for very few people (approx. 8 million) in the world to be 100% of anything in particular. The vast majority of people (approx. 99.999%) are somewhere on the continuum.
Thank you for reading.
