Re: “Smoky Oak Taproom

My wife and ate at Smoky Oak last night (Saturday) and were horribly disappointed. Although I finished my order, she couldn't finish hers due to so much fat in her sandwich. How hard is it to bring hot rice and hash as a side? Well, apparently the kitchen staff was out taking a smoke break when we were there, because I didn't see any of the good stuff others have raved about. We live on James Island, and have so for 20+ years, and I can tell you this place is no competition with Jim & Nick's, Melvin's, or Bessinger's. The difference is the sports bar, drinking atmosphere that you get at Smoky Oak. If that's what you like, then Smoky Oak is your place, but certainly not for good food. One last thing, they're mac-n-cheese taste like something out of a box, as well as the fried mushrooms. Let the buyer beware! Wait staff was excellent...very good service, too bad they didn't help cook the food.
