Re: “FEATURE ‌ Charleston Poised to Go Smoke-Free

Ya'll are in for a rude awakening if you allow this ban to be passed. It is only one of many governmental acts supposedly in the best interest of the public that will indeed minimize our rights until we have none. I appreciate that some choose not to smoke and I highly recommend that they patronize establishments that are willing to accommodate their needs...there are many to chose from. However, for the smokers, this ban will completely eliminate a choice for them and they will be forced to wine and dine as a nonsmoker against their own will. This is not freedom. All you golden tongued politicians who speak as though this is in pursuit of fairness to all...fiddle dee! Who are you really looking out for? Think of the long term affects this will have on American Freedom. Do you really want Charleston to be another West Coast Nightmare? I think not! What other freedoms are you willing to sell? Where will you stop? Free people will only take so much. When it gets to the point of the people feeling instead like an litter of long-tailed cats in an overcroweded room filled with rocking chairs, screaming and clawing is inevitable!! The South lost the first Civil War and rightly so. This was a valuable lesson for us. However, it seems that the tables have turned perhaps by this victory going to the heads of the north as they have taken leave of all their political and common senses, while the West never had any common sense to begin with. I personally have had enough of the government's invasion in my lifetime trying to mold my beloved home into the 'politically correct' nightmare we now see in so many other cities. We've quietly allowed the government to impose the beliefs of a few on and above the rights of all. We've quietly allowed them to take God out of our schools and impose their twisted doctrine on our children in place of pure decency. We give the 'few' more and more power every day through our silence and indifference. I say to our grassroots, "Shame on us! What legacy are we leaving our children and grandchildren?" I shutter at the thought of it. Do not be fooled in thinking that the real twisted societies only exist in smaller communities outside our borders and that they could never infiltrate the life of Liberty we enjoy. Wake Up! They are here. Beware but Be Brave. Don't let their little squeaky wheel get the oil! This land is our land too! Stand up and let your voices be heard now! If you choose to sit back and give them your voice for now, rest uneasy knowing that we will ultimately be squealing like a pig if we let them get us in the end. It is past time for the South to Rise Up! Rebel Yell!! One Nation Under God...Let our voices be heard and take back our beloved America from the twisted, immoral few. It starts with our voices defending our rights, even if it has to start with a voice on a smoking ban. I hope, however, it won't end there. To the majority of you yankees and westerners, I say "We love ya but... Wake Up! Stop selling our rights or else kiss my grits!" I don't think you sissy pants want to see us rednecks on the battlefield!
