Rett and Bonnie King’s farm-to-table market is situated smack dab in the middle of their farm field, stocked with diverse products made from their crops. When strawberries are in season (March-May) you can go and pick them, but they also have plenty of asparagus, lettuce, squash, tomatoes, cantaloupes, and watermelon to tide you over till then. “You name it, we’ll have it,” Bonnie says. They also have a Department of Health-regulated kitchen on the premises which produces fresh Key lime pie, cakes, casseroles, and most recently, homemade churned ice cream. The ice cream is made with seasonal produce — flavors right now include peach, blueberry, and chocolate but expect different flavors as the seasons change. And don’t forget to stop in the garden shop to pick up some freshly cut flowers. New this year is grass-fed beef, like hamburger meat and kebabs. They also create and sell magnolia and Christmas wreaths and spin out crab cakes and onion pies from their certified kitchen.
