King Bean owner Kurt Weinberger experienced Seattle's coffee revolution in the 1990s. After training with coffee companies in New York and Italy, Weinberger decided to develop a full-service, local, independent coffee roasting business of his own, officially starting King Bean in 1994. King Bean also created Southern Harmony Tea, an iced tea blend for restaurant consumption. The beans they roast are organic, fair-trade, and single origin.
