Re: “Crave Kitchen & Cocktails

My new go-to brunch place in Charleston. Shrimp with grits and chorizo sausage is great. The bacon Bloody Mary will not disappoint. Great casual outdoor seating.

Re: “Veto-proof S.C. House majority approves roads bill compromise with 12-cent gas tax increase

Navigator, like where you're going with this. Let's add bicycles to the list. No license or fee or insurance needed to ride a bike, yet they drive on roads. My favorite is when a few of them ride side by side during rush hour, adding to the problem.

Re: “Veto-proof S.C. House majority approves roads bill compromise with 12-cent gas tax increase

I don't like the train of thought. Just my opinion. Look at New York. Some of the highest gas taxes in the country. And some of the worst roads. TAXES TAXES TAXES...not the answer. Do you really trust the bureaucracy of Columbia and special interest groups to spend your money wisely? This gas tax bill is loaded with pork. The existing gas tax money is NOT being spent on roads. It is crazy for anyone to think raising the tax and trusting government to spend the money on roads is going to happen. Again, my opinion, but also factual in that is what is currently happening. It's ludicrous to think there will be different results this time around.

Re: “Veto-proof S.C. House majority approves roads bill compromise with 12-cent gas tax increase

Well said Jshicke. A person would need to be crazy to think this money will actually go to where it's meant to be spent. We have an existing gas tax, and the funds are clearly not being spent on roads. So...why would anymore support giving more money to the government? So they can continue to say the money will be used for roads and instead use it elsewhere? Look at the pension scenario that is playing out as well. Clearly the government doesn't know how to spend tax dollars efficiently.

How about use the existing taxes on what it is supposed to be spent on and cut out the pork funding for side projects NOT related to roads.

This is another case of government saying we need to raise taxes for roads, but the money will be spent elsewhere. There's already talk that this gasoline tax is going to have tax credits for college tuition payback. Clearly that has nothing to do with roads.....

Re: “Charleston County leads the state in overburdened bridges and congestion costs

Didn't we just have a a half-cent sales tax increase to fund road projects, mass transit, and the greenbelt program? Passed on 11/8/16.
