Re: “Give old books a second, light-filled life

Has there been a problem with books "disappearing" from the shelves of Charleston County's libraries? That should certainly be reported to the library director, as it could become a serious issue if it continues.
According to this article, though, as I read it, Ms. Everett is offering people the opportunity to reuse books that have done their fair duty and are not salvageable for anything else. As she points out, the Charleston County Friends of the Library receive thousands of donations throughout the year. They are not always of the high quality that the Friends require to be included in such events as the numerous book sales that they sponsor each year to fund raise for CCPL. Some of the books the Friends acquire do come from the library, but since the library system sets its own standards for removing books from circulation, you should again take your concerns to the Charleston County Library Director who can answer your question fully.

Re: “Free Tickets: Man 1, Bank 0

Many years ago my in-laws and I banked at the same bank, and I made a deposit for them when they were away on vacation. I inadvertantly recorded the deposit in MY ledger. When the bank said I was overdrawn, I was irate and went down demanding to know what was going on. I had all my deposit slips, etc. After very much back and forth, they confirmed that I had made the deposit, but in the other account, not mine. I can't think when I've been as embarrassed.
