Karaoke Smackdown

When: Mon., Oct. 28, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $10
Want to hear Frankenstein’s rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” or have a witch serenade you with Lynyrd Skynyrd? Then join Threshold Repertory Theatre and What If? Productions for their monthly Karaoke Smackdown, this time with a Halloween twist. Contestants are randomly chosen from entries and are given a month to memorize and prepare their songs for the big show. The audience helps the celebrity judges decide on the winners by using hashtags on Twitter, and four finalists will be chosen to sing a random song for the top prize. The winner is then registered for the next month to defend his or her title. “Whether contestants win for their talent or their showmanship is all up to the audience and judges,” explains Threshold’s executive director Courtney Daniels. “Because this is more of a showcasing of talent, we are looking for people that can sing, but we’re really looking for people to dress up and have fun with it.” Either way, you should prepare your ears for another scary version of “My Heart Will Go On” just in case
